Stereotypical misconceptions about sex at age 60 and beyond often shape the belief that sexual desire is exclusive to younger generations. This couldn't be further from the truth. Senior sex and intimacy can be incredibly satisfying and fulfilling. Biologically, feeling desire and wanting to have sex is natural for adults of all ages; there’s no reason it should stop at a certain age. In fact, research shows that couples aged 50-59 have sex an average of 58 times per year, and this number actually increases to 68 times for couples aged 60-69.

If you’re newly dating, I recommend having an honest conversation about your sexual history and medical status with any new partner before engaging in more intimate sexual activities. This may include getting some tests with your doctor so that you both feel safe to move ahead sexually. I always highly reccomend regular testing and practicing safe and consensual sex.
